Join CIRENAS this summer as our students help to create our new turtle nursery, live in local communities and learn about sustainability.
“CIRENAS exists to create transformative connections between people and the environment through education, research, integration and innovation.”
Our 2nd Semester Program starts Jan. 3rd, 2013! Our students take on real world challenges in order to help create a more sustainable future.
CIRENAS offers 1-3 week-long short courses for middle school, high school, college, graduate and adult participants.
The Caletas-Ario National Wildlife Refuge is in jeopardy due to environmental degradation, illegal fishing and turtle egg poaching.
CIRENAS is currently looking for researchers interested in studying the Caletas-Ario National Wildlife Refuge.
Our place-based semester programs and short courses allow students to step off the sidelines and become active environmental stewards engaged in meaningful projects.

Students and researchers join efforts with local stakeholders in order to conduct applicable research focused on the creation of a more sustainable future.

Home stays, service learning, stakeholder meetings and working together towards common goals help students and stakeholders make life changing connections.

Our emphasis on “action research” encourages new ideas, projects and partnerships focused on relevant solutions to some of our region’s and the world’s greatest challenges.
