The summer season at CIRENAS started off strong with a group of Spanish students from the Westminster school in Connecticut. The group spent their first few days on CIRENAS campus learning the local plant species, exploring the wildlife refuge and kayaking through the Mangrove estuaries. The students then made their way to the town of Quebradas de Nando, where they painted the school’s new bathrooms and spent lots of time engaging with the students, teaching English and learning even more Spanish.
The students from Quebradas put on a wonderful dance presentation for the Westminster group, and soon they were all participating in one big dance lesson, taught by Zuguey Castro. On their last night on campus, the group went out for a great dinner in Santa Teresa before heading back home with some new perspectives, new language skills, and lots of new friends.
